Pembekuan PSSI Untuk Reformasi Total

"Semua sebetulnya sama, itu dalam rangka pembenahan PSSI. Jadi baik pak wapres maupun saya sama, sama sebetulnya, keinginannya sama, pembenahan PSSI," ujar Presiden Jokowi di Bandara Halim Perdanakusumah, Sabtu, seusai melakukan kunjungan kerja ke Sulawesi, 28-30 Mei, 2015.
Indonesia dijatuhi sanksi oleh badan sepak bola dunia FIFA, Sabtu, 30 Mei 2015, karena pemerintah membekukan PSSI.
Pembekuan, menurut presiden, adalah untuk melakukan pembenahan total supaya sepakbola Indonesia memiliki prestasi terus sepanjang masa. "Pembenahan total artinya reformasi total, pembenahan organisasi, sistem dan manajemen. Karena di tingkat pemain saya lihat sudah bagus. Tapi di level ini harus ada pembenahan," ujar Jokowi.
Presiden Jokowi juga mengatakan, bahwa prestasi persepakbolaan Indonesia selama 10 tahun ini tidak lolos kualifikasi Asia sejak tahun 2002, 2006 dan 2010.
"Tidak lolos piala dunia FIFA, kemudian di piala Asia, AFC 2004 sampai babak 1, 2011 tidak lolos kualifikasi di tingkat Asia," ujar Presiden Jokowi.
Kemudian dilihat lagi peringkat di FIFA sejak 2012 yang menduduki 156 dari semua negara, pada 2013 peringkat 161, 2014 peringkat 159 dan pada 2014 masih tetap di peringkat 159, tambah Jokowi.
"Apakah kita hanya ingin ikut event internasional atau ingin prestasi? Kalau hanya ingin event internasional tapi selalu kalah, kebanggaan kita dimana? Saya mau tanya," kata Presiden Jokowi.
Mengenai tenggat waktu pembenahan ini, Jokowi menganjurkan untuk dikonfirmasikan ke Kementerian Pemuda dan Olah Raga.
"Mestinya PSSI dan pemerintah bekerja sama dengan baik, bukan intervensi loh. Kita semua ingin sepakbola kita jadi lebih baik," ujar Jokowi.
